I came to Dr. Kate with a chronic hamstring injury after going to several of my local providers in a pretty running savvy community. Where I was in my treatment was back to running, but my goals were to be able to get back to performing at an elite level. There had been months of me doing hamstring loading exercises, and I was curious as of why I wasn’t able to get to the next phase of my return. I felt stuck in a box where my hamstring felt stronger, but my mechanics would not normalize and I literally could not move forward . Just walking beside Dr. Kate, she knew my gait was compromised and made her curious as to why. She went through a thorough series of tests with me and she was able to narrow in on the root cause of my abnormal mechanics. Having an injured hamstring for months, it felt healing for her to go through a process that actually pointed at my hamstring tendon being in a good place but needing to work on other variables. She gave me targeted exercises to improve neural tension and hip extension. Just having these two areas as focuses in my recovery has dramatically changed the trajectory of my comeback. Instead of thinking I had a non-healing injury, I have a workable solution. I am so grateful for Dr. Kate and the time she spent getting me back to the level I desire to be at.
